Chapter 25

It was the next morning. The sun was up and the birds were chirping. Beams of light shone through my window and flashed on my face, causing me to squint my eyes before finally using my hand as a shade.

I had a dull headache that made me groan as I dragged my body from the unmade bed. My eyes were still groggy from sleep but the alarm clock kept going off loudly and I had to shut it up.

The annoying thing about it was that instead of it being right next to the bed where I could reach and shut it off, it was at the work desk in the right corner of the room.

The sound was loud and obnoxious. But it did a great job of waking me up. Because it was not close to the bed, I could not snooze it whenever I wanted; I had to literally wake up to do that.

And by waking up physically to turn it off, it was doing its job. Because once I’m out of bed, it’s harder for me to find sleep again easily. So in a way, as annoying as it was, it was productive.
