Chapter 27
The air smelled sour and the coldness was evident. As I walked deeper into the dungeon and past the prisoners, I noticed that most of them were asleep. The few that were awake stared at me blankly as I walked by.
I was not there for any one of them. I was only there for a single person, and that was my real mom, Luna Alexa.
When I reached her cell, I saw that she was humming a familiar tone. A tone that made me emotional.
In my past life, she used to hum that tone all the time when she would give me my meds. It was soothing and reminded me that I was not alone.
When she noticed my presence, she stopped humming and stared at me. “What do you want, little girl?” Her voice was gritty. “Have you come to wave your flag of victory in my face?” She was wearing the same dress when I last saw her.
“No.” I shook my head slowly and walked closer to the cell. My heart was thumping in my chest; not because of fear but because I was over
