Clary chuckled without humor. “I did not tell you all this as a way to ask for your permission, Levi. I told you because I thought…because I thought I was catching feelings for you.” 

Levi inhaled and exhaled deeply a few times as a way to calm himself. “You thought?” 

“Look, I’m tired, I think you should leave,” Clary said as she walked past him and towards the door. She reached for the doorknob and opened the door for Levi to leave. When she saw that he did not move an inch she raised her voice, “Did you not hear me? Leave!” 

Levi felt sick to his stomach. He nodded as his heart ached. Without saying another word to her, he collected his speaker and walked right out of the room, not even looking back. 

Clary closed the door and a small sob escaped her lips without her permission. She hated how that had gone with the Alpha. She wished it had gone way differently but she could not change the past, could she?
