Chapter 24
The lady at the mall assisted my cousins and me with some of their new collections. I glanced through some clothes, thinking of choosing a few—or better yet, grabbing the first dress that caught my hand.
I walked into the dressing room with a blue feather gown. I came back out to get my cousins’ input. Lisa said she liked it, but seeing her face scrunch up at me meant she didn’t. She was only being the less annoying, bitchy cousin.
However, Sara, in her usual outspoken self, told me plainly that I looked like a chicken who had her blood drained. While she was describing this, I saw the woman at the shop looking strangely at us—but mostly at her.
Lisa grabbed a dress. “Take this and go change,” she said, pushing me back into the changing room.
It was another gown, but this one had no sleeves. It was sleeveless, and the back of the gown was bare. The remaining part of the material flowed down. I walked outside and showed it to my cousins. Lisa immediately rose
