Layla's POV
If it were Logan, I wouldn’t be faking a smile. I wouldn’t be pretending to be okay. I wouldn’t feel the need to hide my discomfort or suppress the urge to push him away.
With Logan, I would be at peace.
I hated that thought as much as I craved it.
Because Logan wasn’t here. Jason was.
And I had no idea how to handle it.
So, I did the only thing I could think of.
I reached for the TV remote and switched it on, allowing the bright lights and sounds to fill the room.
It was a good enough distraction, something to keep Jason from noticing the way my fingers had curled into my palm or the way my body had gone stiff beneath him.
The screen flickered to life, some random movie playing, but I couldn’t even register the name.
Jason sighed contentedly, shifting slightly against me as if settling in, making himself comfortable.
