Jason's POV

"Are you sure you’ll be okay?" Maddie asked, her voice still carrying that underlying disapproval she had been throwing at me all evening.

I sighed, leaning my head against the couch. "I’ll survive."

Maddie gave me a long look before shifting her gaze to Layla, who was still sitting beside me, her fingers absently playing with the hem of her dress.

"Layla, if you need anything, call me," Maddie said softly. "Or just come over. You don’t have to..."

"I’ll be fine, Maddie," Layla interrupted with a small smile. "Go get some rest."

Maddie hesitated, then nodded. "Okay… Just don’t let him boss you around too much."

I rolled my eyes. "Goodnight, Maddie."

She shot me one last glare before walking out of my apartment, carrying Little Jason with her.
