Chapter 977
Layla's POV
“Take it away,” I blurted out, pushing the mug toward Maddie as I fought the urge to gag.
Maddie blinked, clearly taken aback. “What?”
I swallowed hard, my nausea intensifying. “I can’t stand the smell. It’s making me want to throw up.”
Maddie frowned. “But this is your favorite coffee, Layla. The same one you always drink. You never start a morning without it.”
I shook my head quickly, pressing a hand to my mouth.
“Not anymore,” I managed to get out before scrambling off the couch.
I barely made it to the hallway bathroom before I lurched forward, the nausea overtaking me completely.
My stomach twisted as I emptied whatever little was inside, my hands gripping the edges of the sink for support. My throat burned, and I gasped for breath, trying to steady myself.
After a moment, I rinsed my mouth, splashing cold water on my face to cool the sweat forming on my forehead.
