Chapter 9

I do not know how long I was unconscious. After I passed out, I did not have any memory of fading in and out of consciousness.

When I ultimately came to, the thing that guided me back to a conscious state was the sound of a heart monitor beeping. I listened to the soft beeping for several moments before attempting to open my eyes.

It took some time for my eyes to adjust to the dimly lit room and to be able to focus. When they did focus, the first thing I noticed was the ugly black and purple colors of Luna’s canopy bed in the Alpha chambers.

I glanced around the room before my gaze fell on my body. I was covered in wires that were taped all over my body as I was laid out in the oversized bed. There were also a couple of monitors in the room, and I could feel breathing tubes in my nose.

I desperately scanned the entire room for someone, panicking when I realized I was left alone yet again. One of the monitors began to beep rapidly, scaring me. I tried to sit u
