Chapter 11

I used to hate school.

I was never the ugly girl who was bullied and had her hair stuck with gum. I was never the rejected nerd who hugged the books and passed through the corridors for fear that the football team would provoke him. I was never the normal young people who just studied and planned their careers without drawing much attention. I was a name to be respected in that place. I was in a group of girls who made everyone - even some teachers - stop to see where we were going. I was the cheerleader who was also the leader of one of the most coveted groups of girls by the members of the football team, even so, as I passed through the corridors with my chin raised and my hair flying to my back at every powerful step, I felt like a lost child in the middle of a jungle.

There wasn't even a day when someone didn't hit me lightly on the shoulder and lamented the death of my brother. There wasn't even a day when I didn't hear a little group or another
