Chapter 9
We walked for a few more minutes, already watching the streets becoming slightly steeper to the side where the wealthiest remained. Edward sighed softly, lost in his ramblings. His eyes remained on the street ahead, and in the establishments that closed their doors to fall into the sleeping silence. It was not supposed to be dawn, but it was still a Monday, few establishments remained open until the wee hours of the night. And no party would take place in any house other than the one where my young and rich friends gathered, whose street in which I had fled towards the bridge passed us a few meters before I spoke to Edward again.
"You said you suffered from a recent loss..., but that many things beyond that would be involved. Was it just your mother or are there other people, I mean, in loving matters, who may have abandoned you?" I asked softly, limping lightly by the tiredness in my legs, and forcing Edward to hold me more firmly.
