Chapter 14
“It has been a really eventful day, Erin, but I’m afraid I have to go,” she announced, adjusting her jacket.
“Why? You can stay a little longer. What will I do all alone in the house?”
“You could come with me,” Jasmine suggested. Erin cringed and shook her head.
“I will pass,” she twisted her fingers, balanced her weight on her left leg, and stared at her friend with doe-shaped eyes. She could not help the wave of sadness, which washed over her at the thought of spending the night alone.
All day, she had avoided thinking about Uriah, but that was only because Jasmine was there. She served as a really good distraction and leaving her all alone in the house brought back the gloomy thoughts she had tried to bury.
“Well, do you. Just make sure to not sob about your asshole boss. He does not deserve it.” Erin smiled smugly, nodded her head, and gave Jas a small hug. She led her to the door, gave her another hug, and pulled the door open for her friend to go
