[Six months earlier]

Erin walked into the office feeling sad and weak for reasons she had no idea about. Since Uriah stopped coming to work, she had been feeling guilty. She knew that whatever it was, she was part of the reasons he was not coming to work, and she hoped that he was okay. Jess had been kind to fill her in on his call on Friday. It had helped her stop blaming herself for a while, but it did not end the feeling of guilt completely.

She bit her bottom lip and held her head as high as she could while making her way toward her office. She heard murmurs as she walked past, but she dismissed them as the usual office gossip. One time, Jess told her that the people at the office said she slept with Uriah, so she would be his personal assistant. The news was a huge blow to her chest because she could not understand what she did to deserve such brutal accusations.
