Chapter 9

I thought about leaving Brent alone until he got fed up. I waited for days, weeks, and months until I lost hope that he would be sweet to me again. We still go home, but since our work schedules are different, we rarely see each other. 

On the weekend, we still have breakfast together, but only until then because he will sleep during the day and leave in the afternoon. However, I still go to work and pretend that there is no problem. It's just that it's hard to pretend that everything is okay when it's not. It's hard to smile when your heart is hurting. 

I had just arrived at the office and only a few people were on time. I saw some colleagues in the parking lot earlier talking while smoking. The first thing I did was organize the scattered papers on my desk. I also cleaned the keyboard and then I took a deep breath before turning on the computer.
