Rose’s POV

“Elise, just hold on a little longer,” I murmured, my voice weak. “We’re going to find somewhere safe, I promise.” I said to her slowly now trying to catch my breath.

“Rose…” Elise’s voice was faint, barely audible against the sound of our footsteps.

“I’m here, Elise,” I said, trying to reassure her, though I wasn’t sure if I was trying to reassure myself as well.
