Rose’s POV
Even then, I could still feel its eyes on me, as if it was somehow connected to me, even from a distance.
I stumbled back toward the clearing where I’d left Elise, my mind raising from what had just happened.
I kept glancing back, half-expecting the wolf to be following me, but it didn’t appear. It was like it had simply let me go.
When I reached Elise, she was still lying there, her breathing even more labored than before.
My heart ached seeing her like that, and I rushed to her side, gently lifting her head.
“Elise, I’m back,” I said softly, my voice trembling with emotion. “I found some water and herbal leaves. Here, drink a little.” I said giving her some water and squeezing out the juice from the leaf and she squeezed her face.
Trying to let me know that the leaf was bitter.
I then carefully gave her some water again. brought the water to her lips, helping her take a few small sips.
