Elise’s POV

It was noon when I finally began to feel the world around me again, the warm sunlight entering into the cave as if it were urging me to wake up.

My body was heavy, weighed down by tiredness and body pain that seemed to reach into my bones.

But slowly, painfully, I started to come back to myself.

I could feel the cool ground beneath me, the rough texture of the cave that I had been placed over me.

My mind was flooded, but I knew I wasn’t alone. I could hear voices, familiar ones, though they sounded distant and not clear.

It took all my strength, but I forced my eyes open, blinking against the light that seemed too bright, too harsh.
