Rose’s POV

“Can’t talk?”

I tried to keep my face neutral. “I don’t know what to say,” I said at last.

She scoffed, and then, she slowly backtracked from me. I watched her anxiously as I tried to act as far removed from the situation as possible.

“That’s not good enough, but I would let it go for now. Get to the kitchen and make sure you do your day’s work. There is no one that would do it for you at this point, so don’t irritate me so much now,” she said fiercely.

I gulped. “But I was told to rest by the Alpha.”

She glared at me. “I’m the head maid and you would do as I say or you would go through severe consequences,” she snapped at me.

I nodded once. “I know what you can do, but don’t forget…”

Eliza held up her hand to silence me at once. I said nothing anymore, knowing that I have already said do much as it is, and saying more would be shooting myself on the foot, which was far from advisable.
