Rose’s POV
The trek back to where Elise and the others were waiting felt longer than it actually was.
My heart raced as I thought about Elise, injured and fighting for her life.
I could only pray that she was still alive when we arrived.
Kanen stayed close by my side, his presence both comforting and strange because he was quiet all through.
I knew I had made the right choice in leaving the mountain, but my mind was still troubled over everything that had happened.
As we approached the clearing, I spotted the others in the distance.
And I start to wonder why did all of them come here and just forget me at home.
My eyes immediately searched for Elise, my pulse quickening.
There she was, sitting slumped against a large rock, her face pale, and her breathing rising and falling very slowly.
Her body seemed to move with each breath, a result of the stab wound she had endured during the battle.
