My anger is still heavy in my chest. But as the moments passed, I could feel it start to soften.

Rose was still outside, likely crying after everything I’d said. The memory of her tear-streaked face hit me harder than I thought it would.

She had been trying to help me.

It was something I didn’t want to admit, not in the heat of the argument.

But now, standing here alone in the silence of the cave, I couldn’t ignore the truth anymore.
