Alpha Kanen’s POV

I walk in and sees that Rose is awake already. I can’t take eyes off her yet I don’t want to keep them on her. I feel so guilty, and I’m sure it’s pretty obvious and written on my face. I ask what happened, as I found her weak and helpless in the garden. She doesn’t say anything, and my feelings automatically acquire an edge. I wonder whether she can read me, and whether she sees the guilt written over my face. The physician comes in, mentioning that she has malnutrition.

She hasn’t been feeding properly, and I berate myself for my thoughtlessness. ‘She must be scared to eat from a kitchen where everyone hates her,’ I thought to myself, knowing that I inflicted most of the hate on her.

From this moment onwards she would eat from the royal kitchen. A non-royal member of the pack wasn’t supposed to eat there, so I would bestow all of the full privileges of someone in the pack, royal sector. She would become a pack member. I wouldn’t want this
