Alpha Kanen’s POV

I didn’t know what I was going to tell Rose. She asked for her parents and it was up to me to give her an answer. I thought hard and long about it all day, even during the meeting with the elders, that I wasn’t even focused on whatever it was that they were discussing.

What possible excuses did I even have? What were my options at this point? I didn’t even know. If I didn’t say anything the next time she asks me, she would suspect that something was wrong and either I knew about it or was a part of it myself.

Which was even true. I loved Rose. And eventually she would find out that I did something to her parents, and I would have to answer to her. Why did they have to tempt me into this?

Why? Now I didn’t even know where I was going to start from. After this meeting, I would go back to her as I had asked her to stay back in my quarters.
