A knock on my bedroom door rang out again. I’ve lost count of how many times Lia has tried to bring me food, even though I haven’t unlocked the door and have told her to just leave it outside.

I couldn’t tell if it was day or night anymore. Everything felt like a blur. I was just taking deep breaths in this emptiness. Lost. Confused.

School was out of the question since I couldn’t focus on class. I’d just end up in tears, and everyone would probably think I’d lost it.

“Princess,” I heard my dad’s stern voice from outside my room. "Can you please open the door?"

I curled up on my bed, lying on my side. My phone buzzed again, vibrating on the mattress. It had been going off for a while. I didn’t pick it up, even though I knew it was Kier.

Then Faye’s name popped up on the screen. A tear slipped down my cheek as I hesitated, my shaking finger finally swiping to answer. I really wanted to hear her voice, even if I couldn’t res
