Chapter 7. Miscarriage

Jason’s POV

“Nyla,” I called when I returned, but her usual spot in front of the TV was empty. I was beginning to think it was her favorite place.

“Nyla,” I called again. The room echoed back an unusual silence.

I walked down to her room and pressed my ear against the door, hoping to hear something- but nothing. I knocked several times, but there was no response.

‘Should I go in?’ I wondered. What if she was busy? I knocked one last time before finally pushing the door open, only to be met with an empty room. Her bed was perfectly made as if no one had slept in it. Panic set in. Did she run away? I knew she hated being a breeder. Who would like being trapped in the middle of nowhere? It felt like she was in bondage, and I understood that, but I couldn’t change it. She had agreed to this, she signed the contract. Why would she back out now that she’s pregnant?

I searched everywhere, but Nyla was nowhere to be found.

I headed over to the bath
