Chapter 12. Betrayal

Nyla’s POV

Several eyes look down on me, their eyes asking the question of what I was doing in the middle of the street with a newborn pup by my side.

That question I couldn’t answer either, I couldn’t remember how I found myself, the anesthesia was so heavy on my eyes.

I could vividly remember someone talking to me after giving birth, writing something on my palm, and I could remember being driven, but I couldn’t remember who drove. As I made a move to sit up, several pains coursed through my body, reminding me that my body was still sore from the surgery.

My heart was broken into pieces, not because of Jason but because of his betrayal. I thought I signed the contract to carry a pup for them, why then did they leave the pup under my protection, something I never bargained for? Will it be cool to say I never wished to have children?

I wanted to spend the rest of my life taking care of my dad, pulling myself through college, and giving back to so
