Chapter 24. Defeating the Rogues

I tried to reach Kaelan through the mind link but I couldn’t connect with him. He must be out of the pack. I needed to eat so badly but I didn’t want Maria and Ava handling my food right now.

The next option I had was to buy take-out food. I knew a canteen close to the bar where I once worked and their food was good. So I decided to go get some food before the sun gets hotter.

It took me thirty minutes to get there and luckily, the canteen wasn’t so busy, as most people already had their breakfast. I paid for my food and headed home immediately.

I clutched the brown paper bag of food as if it was some kind of treasure. The scent of freshly made pancakes wafted up, and I couldn’t help but inhale deeply. It was a simple meal, but it felt like a lifeline after being without food for almost 24 hours.

I hummed a song and enjoyed the cool air as I walked along the path that led back to Crescent Moon. Suddenly, a familiar but pungent scent hit my nose.<
