“I’ve marked you, crowned you, but there’s one more thing left to be done—make you mine.” Kaelan whispered sweetly in my ears as I stood on the balcony, watching the stars.

I smiled as I turned to him, trying to mask the emotional pain I felt right now. The crowning ceremony was successful, yes, but nothing hurts more than knowing my own father tried to prevent me from being crowned Luna.

How cruel!

My father has shown me nothing but hatred and rejection and I still don’t understand why.

I mean he was supposed to protect my interest, right?

Sigh.

Kaelan took my hand in his, “Are you okay, baby girl.”

I nodded as my gaze went to the ground. He knew something was bothering me. He always knows when I have something on my mind.

Kaelan cupped my face with his hands and gave me a kiss. “I want that scowl off your face, Luna Everly. We were both betrayed tonight but we’re not going to dwell on that. Tonight is our special night a
