“He’s telling the truth!” Casy spoke up in his defence. “I don’t know why he chose to save her life, but he did either way and I’m here with him because he might have made the dumbest choice ever, but he’s my family. That’s why I abandoned my code and rules and ethics and followed him.” By the time she finished speaking, she had a napkin pressed against his bloody nose.
Edward wanted to ask if Ace also knew Casy, who just spoke in his defence, loved him, but he kept that to himself. There was no time for that now. There was still a lot to cover. They had failed to protect them and that had brought them to the point they were.
