Chapter 89
Ruby’s POV
That night, I dreamt about my mother, who was in a hospital bed giving birth to me. She held me, kissed me, and smiled, but then the beeping around her started. Doctors rushed about, shouting words I didn’t understand.
I was startled awake from the dream by the sound of laughter in the hallway. I climbed out of bed and opened the door to find my mates struggling to hold themselves up. They were drunk.
“You boys had a good time, I see,” I said with a smile, moving between them and guiding them into the bedroom. Hayes kissed my temple, and I threw them both onto the bed. Hayes sat up and pulled me by the waist towards him, positioning me between his legs.
I sat on his lap while Zylon groaned out incoherent words. “There she is. My mate, our mate,” he slurred, kissing me and cupping my cheek. “The mate who wants to end the Hawthorne bloodline.”
I felt my heart plummet to my stomach.
“Hayes, it’s not like that,” I said quietly.
