Chapter 7. Recovery

Daphne’s POV.

I woke up to the blinding lights that escaped the windows and into the room. I opened my eyes slowly and then completely at once. The sun was out already and I was yet to get up and begin my chores. I suddenly felt fear and a need to get to work before I got punished again.

As I thought about being punished memories of what had happened to me the night before began to rush into my thoughts. I remembered what my uncle had done to me and I was consumed by the horror of the experience again.

I wasn’t in the right state of mind to begin to reminisce on it and I didn’t want to remember. I wish I could forget all I had been through.

I made to get up and begin my chores for the day. I felt dull pains all over my body. I lifted my hands and noticed that I had been bandaged all over. Another look around the room told me that I had been moved to Elton’s room……….without my knowledge. He wasn’t in the room.
