Chapter 89. She Did Not Pick Me

Berton's POV

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Emily at the Park. She was really back! It took me a while to realize and process that she was the one I'd seen, and it wasn't somebody else. After all these years, she was back, and she had a child with her.

My heart pounded in my chest as I watched her walk away. I knew I had to talk to her, to say something to her and hear her voice after this whole time she'd been away but I didn't even know what to say. I was utterly confused at that moment and all I could do was call her name and walk after her, but she didn't even look at me or care to say anything in response.

She was carrying her child now, and was hurrying out of the building. I watched her walk away, not wanting to talk to me at all. I knew I needed to talk to her and find out how she was doing, but she disappeared before I could say anything. I stood there and sat back on the bench, confused and worried. I didn't
