Chapter 40
I missed living my life without boundaries, without fear that one move outside the circle my sister had created around me, making it clear to me that I should do what she dictated because she was the oldest. I don’t know what would have become of me without her, although it hadn’t been the wisest idea in the world to leave her there, going far away.
“We both know you’ll be able to live next to a wolf, Nix,” I whispered with a slightly blurred look. “You deserve to have happiness in your life more than anyone else.”
A tear slipped down my right cheek, I did not bother to wipe it away. I didn’t have to, wiping it away wouldn’t make the pain I carried inside disappear, I would still be a twenty-year-old girl who wanted to be a child for a long time, I didn’t want anyone to put limits on me since there was never anyone there to guide me on the right path.
