Chapter 4. An Unexpected Lover

POV Megan

I couldn’t take it anymore and laughed my head off.

“Only you can come up with that,” I said, still laughing. “I hope you had a...great time” he rolled his eyes as it was pretty sure the lucky guy saw God when he cum.

“More than that, baby...” Suddenly he fell silent and his face paled, I followed his gaze to a man who was talking to Kodi’s father, it looked like they were great friends, the guy turned and Kodi immediately ran off, I stood there for a moment watching as the unknown man sniffed the air and took a step towards where Kodi was a few seconds ago, he turned and looked at me.

“Do you know the person who was with you a moment ago?” he asked me sweetly, like someone talking to a child.

Oh, how sweet, he thinks I’m sweet, I thought even though I was a little annoyed that a perfect stranger treated me like I was a baby.

But if that’s what you want...

“My daddy says I’m not supposed to talk to strangers,” I said as innocently as possible; the stranger sighed and tried again.

“It’s just that I thought I saw a friend of mine was here; he’s blond with blue eyes and a little taller than you; maybe you know him.” When he looked at me, his eyes were veiled in sadness, genuine sadness.

Wait a second, this smells like a cat in the bag to me, I decided to get a few answers out of you.

“Who are you?” I asked him in a confused little girl tone. He looked at me tenderly, and I knew my little act was working.

“My name is Andrew; I’m the alpha of the Howls pack and captain of the state police; it’s nice to meet you, little one,” He said, shaking my hand in a firm.

But sweet as my smile froze as I listened to his presentation.

Shit, this must be the cop who fucked Kodi last night, I thought and concentrated on having a grip just as firm as his as we shook hands as I looked him up and down.

Well, the man was sexy; I understand Kodi now.

“I’m Megan, my father is the alpha of the Moon Black pack, it’s nice to meet you, alpha,” I said as I started back down the same path my friend had left on “I’m afraid I have to go...I must find a friend, but I’ll let you know if I find the boy you described, count me in” I offered him a big, shaky smile.

For a moment, his eyes flashed, and I was worried that he wouldn’t believe me and find out that my friend was the guy he was looking for, but then he pulled himself together and told me:

“It’s okay, little one; I won’t take any more of your time, but please keep me informed if you know anything; see you.” And he left. I waited until he was out of my sight then I ran like hell in search of Kodi.

I found him in the kitchen, drinking a glass of what I thought was Whisky; he looked worried and was visibly tense, which was really worrying. Kodi was a carefree guy most of the time; this was somehow stirring something inside him.

“Hey, why did you run off like that?” I asked him.

He looked at me, and for a moment, I thought he wasn’t going to answer me, but he did.

“It’s him, the cop from last night, the one who fucked me and got me out of jail,” He said, depressed and worried. “Apparently, he’s friends with my dad, meaning if he sees me, he can tell him his son is gay, and then I’ll be lost; what if my dad sends the herd after me? I’m dead, Megan,” he said and started to cry.

God, what do I do? Kodi is my only friend, and I am his only friend; there has to be something that can be done.

Just then, the kitchen door opens, and in walks Andrew, aka the policeman, with a grim face.

Oh, how scary, we are going to die and all because of that horny Kodi; I hid behind Kodi, ready to throw him as a weapon if necessary, just to save my neck, okay, I’m just kidding.

“What do you want?” I tell Kodi, hiding from the cop who looks at me with a raised eyebrow, I guess it didn’t take him long to figure out my lie.

“Talk, little one,” Replied the alpha, undeterred by Kodi’s fear. “I just want to talk about what happened last night.”

“So, talk already...” Kodi said, but then he thought better of it, looked at me, and said “Meg, will you leave us alone for a moment? I’ll look for you later” He said to me with affection.

“It’s okay.” I gave him a kiss on the cheek, and out of the corner of my eye, I could see that Andrew was looking at us tenderly.

People can get a little melodramatic in earnest, I thought with a grimace. I headed for the door and before opening it I looked at the alpha with narrowed eyes, if before the alpha cop had thought I was tender now he would think twice.

“If you hurt him in any way, threaten him, or touch a single hair of his beautiful hair, I swear there will be no place in this world where you can hide from me, Capisci?” I threatened him without hesitation. “I swear I will have a beautiful coat made from your fur, and if you are equal or bigger than in your human form being a wolf, I might even make me some booties for the winter.”

I did not wait for his response as he left the place and returned to the party.

POV Adam

“Let everyone know I’ll be giving the announcement,” I told my beta, Josh, via telepathy; it was past midnight, and to be honest, I wasn’t in the mood for the party, so I locked myself back in my office, and left everything in Vanessa’s capable hands.
