Chapter 11
I was so embarrassed. I don’t know why I should be, but I was. I didn’t know what Max might be thinking about my old and not-so-old fractures. It’s something that was eating at me, even though I can’t do anything to disprove his thoughts if those are about someone beating me up.
“Why did I listen to him and go to the doctor?” I muttered to myself, dropping my head on my knees. I heard a loud sigh, though I didn’t move from my spot. I knew it was Max by the smell of his cologne, plus a strange minty, woody smell. I felt him sit close to me, but he didn’t say anything; I could only hear his heavy breathing.
“Since when, Sara?” He spoke, letting out a growl, making me flinch a little. “Since when did that bastard ever...?”
His voice faded before he finished the sentence. I heard him sigh loudly before he spoke. I raised my head wanting to see him. His eyes were closed as he was breathing heavil
