Charlotte’s POV

I was done for the day. Today was a bit tiring. Yaya had handed us over to the head maid, who, it turned out, was away on a special mission for the Luna. But now she was back. The minute she walked into the maid’s common hall for Yaya’s introduction, I already guessed she was a strict woman, and my guess was correct.

The kitchen work was increased, alongside work at every part of the castle. She also supervised us carefully. She made sure everyone finished their parts before they retired for the night. She didn’t permit anyone to carry over a day’s left work to the next day. Everything had to be done properly. We referred to her as ‘head maid.’

I got to my room. I already knew before opening the door that Jade was probably already inside, waiting for me so she could complain about the new head maid and every other thing troubling her. I turned the lock to my room and went in.
