Chapter 29
Tobias’ POV
My alarm rang, waking me up, and I realised I had fallen asleep on the chair. Saffron was still asleep. She was curled up on the couch like she hadn’t slept well in weeks. She looked peaceful now. No twitching or whimpering. Guess the bad dreams have stopped. I didn’t mean to stare, but something about how she slept held me there longer than I intended.
I finally forced myself to look away, and I checked my phone and realised that three hours had passed since I came to the cabin. I needed to get back before anyone needed Kieran. I grabbed a sticky note from the centre table and wrote:
–I’m going to the packhouse to attend to some things. There’s food in the refrigerator, you can eat. I’ll bring back a change of clothes. Please don’t leave, and don’t open the door for anyone but me. —Tobias.
I glanced at her one last time, brushed a bit of red hair off her face. Damn, I’m turning into Kieran, and Orion, my wolf, growled in satisfaction.
