Tobias’ POV

I made it to the pack gate in under five minutes. Alex and the other warriors were already gathered, there was tension all over them. The air suddenly felt wrong, like something was about to go sideways.

What the hell was going on? And why now, when Kieran had just left for his break? I hoped whatever happened wasn’t bad enough to call him back.

“What’s going on?” I asked, walking up to them.

Alex didn’t say a word. He just jerked his chin at something behind him

I followed his gaze and stopped cold.

A woman was lying there, on her side. She was barely moving and she had dirt and blood all over her, even her clothes were torn. Who was she, and who did this to her?

I immediately ran closer to her, and reached out gently to shake her shoulder. “Hello? Can you hear me?”

She groaned, shifting slightly as she turned her face toward me–

I froze.
