Chapter 41. Truth and Revenge

His face went pale, and I knew it already.

“Why are you doing this, Otis?” I asked, confused about what his real intentions were, “Why don’t you just talk to your brother? To Caden? He has been searching for you for years—”

“Stop talking about things you don’t really know, Giselle. I didn’t go back to make peace with the Einsworths. I went there because of you.”

I frowned, “Because of me?!”

Otis touched his lips and sighed so deeply. He looked upset and I started to feel worried that he might hurt me or something, but I knew he was not that kind of person so I remained calm as I watched the expression on his face turn dark.

“Yes,” he replied as he gazed into my eyes, “You shouldn’t trust that man. I know he is the father of your daughter but he is not what you think he is!”
