Chapter 11
Arayah already felt the presence of another being behind the bars demarcating her cell from the whole world.
It didn't feel like Naomi or the guard watching her stead all day. This was new. Her blood sang and her heart swelled. She felt so overwhelmed, like she was being overcome by a mighty wind. It made her feel light headed.
She did not move from her position, though. She remained seated on the floor, legs crossed, back straight, chin up. She had practiced that position because it gave her a calm demeanor.
Whoever was standing behind the bars, seemed to be studying her, for she heard no movement apart from the sound of heat beating and a slow, smooth breath. She fought the urge to turn. She wanted to see how whoever was standing looked like, but she couldn't bring herself to.
Arayah was a bit nervous about the fact that whoever was standing there would see through the glamor she had on.
