Chapter 12
Grace’s POV
“I missed you, Grace.” His words still echoed in my head long after he was gone.
My legs were trembling as I moved to close the door. It had taken all my guts to stop his erotic touches. I was afraid I was going to melt under his touch and invite him into my bed, but the thought of the kids sleeping next door stopped me.
I would have never thought I could love those kids like they were mine. There was something about their open trust in me that melted my reservations. Daisy often called me mom in her sleep, and I wondered if the children thought of me as a replacement for their mother.
I smiled in spite of myself as I thought of the boys; Steven was the boisterous one, and Stefan, the older twin, was more reserved. It had taken me a few days to tell the identical boys apart. They were dashing like their father, but their pretty green eyes reminded me that I was never going to be their mother, no matter how much I loved them now.
