Grace’s POV

I picked up Daisy and kissed her forehead softly.

“What’s wrong, honey?”

She snuggled against my bed and muttered in a low tone, “I saw the monster man in my dreams.”

“Oh baby, I’m sorry about that. Don’t worry; you are sleeping in my room tonight.”

“Thank you, Grace. You are like a mommy to me.”

My throat constricted with emotions, and I stood still in the living room, waiting for my thumping heart to stop beating so fast.
