Scarlett tried really hard to take our minds off Raya's surgery. She suggested that we play board games and she urged my mother who tried to to avoid it by taking a nap. Somehow, Scarlett knew she wasn't going to take a nap. She was going to spend the rest of the day thinking of Raya and if I was going to be honest with myself, I didn't want to think about her surgery either.

We played games for a while and I noticed that this made the air less tense. Everyone had loosened up and soon, we were laughing. Scarlett won several times and my mother told her she had picked the game because she was perfect at it. We played the last round and Scarlett asked her to make any pick of her choice.
