Chapter 26. A Rich Uncle
“Do you have a driver’s license, Sha?” Mr. Rey asked, curious about what I could handle around the house.
“Yup, I do,” I replied, sorting through paperwork to transfer Noah to a new daycare.
“Great. Then you can drop off and pick up Rachel too. Let’s move Noah to the same private preschool as Rachel. It’s got a great early learning program, so you won’t have to run back and forth.”
“But, Mr. Rey, I can’t afford the monthly tuition or the enrollment fee,” I said hesitantly. “I’ve got some savings, but I’m keeping them for Noah’s college fund.”
Mr. Rey went quiet, clearly caught off guard. I guess he didn’t realize how pricey Rachel’s school was. He pulled up the preschool’s website to check, and his eyes widened at the five grand registration fee and a thousand monthly fees.
“It’s fine if I have to make extra trips. I’ll find a cheaper place for Noah,” I offered.
