Chapter 51. Following Lia
SASHA’S POV
I trailed Lia when she asked to leave work early, which wasn’t like her. I figured she was meeting Uncle Vincent at some hotel or something. But nope—she headed to Rachel’s preschool, waiting by the gate.
Weird. Lia doesn’t usually pick up Rachel. It’s usually Emma or Maeve.
I paused. Okay, my little detective mission was a bust. No big deal. Might as well grab Noah since he’s almost out of preschool too.
Soon enough, Noah came through the gate. I scooped up my son and kissed him.
“Mom, why are you dressed so weird?” Noah asked, wrinkling his nose. In my trench coat, hoodie, sunglasses, and face mask, I probably looked like a spy. I just didn’t want Lia spotting me while I was trailing her.
“Oh, I just didn’t want to get recognized, sweetie!” I said, fumbling. Hope Noah buys it.
“It’s, like, almost evening, Mom. You’re fine, take it off,” Noah said. I gave in and ditched the mask. Lia wouldn’t suspect me being here
