Chapter 41

Elysia's POV

I was angry at Damon for his silly joke, but I tried to brush it off and focus on the trip ahead. After the plane took off, I excused myself and went to the restroom to compose myself.

As I looked at myself in the mirror, I wiped the tears from my eyes and tried to take a deep breath. I thought about what my mother had told me before we left – that this trip was supposed to be about finding myself and getting closer to my husband. I shouldn't try to regain my lost memories, I should focus on restoring my relationship with Damon.

But as I stepped out of the bathroom, feeling motivated and ready to move forward, I was confronted by the stranger – Hector – smiling at me. His presence made me even more uneasy, and I asked him point blank, "What do you want?"

Hector just smiled and touched my shoulder. The touch felt familiar, like we had been intimate before. It sent shivers down my spine and made me even more confused about my past.
