Chapter 6

I couldn’t stop thinking about what happened at the boundary all day. I wondered what had come over me and why no one seemed to care about me the way I had expected. I had plenty to eat, but my appetite was gone as I worried about how this would affect my future in this place and my relationship with Duke.

I fell asleep while still worrying about these thoughts and woke up later. After taking a bath, eating, and dressing, I found some coins that Lilian had left on my table for me. I was happy that she hadn’t spent all my allowance on groceries.

I got ready and went to a library I had found. It was beautiful but empty.

“Hello, is there anyone here?” I called out.

I saw an old librarian who looked friendly. She welcomed me and told me to take a seat. She asked me to check around and feel free to choose any book I liked.

I wandered through the library and found a book I liked. It was about Alpha Mera and her escapades during her time in the werewolf world.
