Chapter 7
Nick heard footsteps trailing behind him in his haste to the car park and stopped. He turned twice but saw no one. He knew his father’s opponents and the new ones he’d made for himself over the years were on his tail, but he never thought any of them would want to attack his staff, least of all his secretary and now him.
Mike was taking too much time to show up with the police, and his pulse was raised with each skipping time. Yet, he didn’t stop walking to his car. He didn’t try Angeline’s number again because it seemed the culprit was tracking him through the call.
He stepped over the corner, and a flashlight shone. He stopped walking and turned again, “Who’s there?”
