Chapter 9
Aria couldn’t stop thinking about the man who saved their lives. When they got to the door, Mrs. Kate quickly stepped in front of her before she could open the door. Aria stepped back, “Don’t mention the incident to your mother.”
Aria looked at her as though something had gone wrong with her. She wondered if the nurse had forgotten so easily that her mother couldn’t feel or hear anyone. The doctor had tried giving them lots of hope in the past, but they still knew the truth, “Mama doesn’t hear anything.”
“No, she does. I’m her nurse, and I spend more time with her. I can tell she does hear. Don’t affect her condition with bad stories like this. If you want to talk about anything else, tell her about the young man we saw.” She cut her left eye at her and smiled.
