Chapter 24. Formal Wear
The apartment was eerily silent, except for the faint hum of traffic outside. It made her feel suffocated.
She reached for her phone on the nightstand and opened her messages. Her fingers hovered over the screen as she doubted texting Zac to see whether the guy was awake. She knew that he had his own burdens to carry; she did not want to pile hers on top.
But at the same time, she knew that she needed him. She knew that she could not do this alone. Not when her own family had forsaken her.
Instead, she opened a new browser tab and typed: Signs of being watched or followed.
Yes, she was paranoid, but didn’t she have the right to be? She had literally found a camera in the previous apartment. Who knows if there were not more of them there that she just had not notice
