Chapter 23. Watched

Something did not feel right, Anna felt deeply that she had made a mistake by agreeing to work with Liam. But she still felt like maybe she could turn things around. She had not signed an employment contract yet so there was still time to back out. 

She got into the cab and sat next to Zac. “Are you sure about the camera?” 

“Yes, it was on the TV and I destroyed it. Someone has been watching us, Zac. Maybe my mom was right, maybe it was a mistake for us to come here. Maybe I should have listened.” 

“Don’t let it get to your head. You did not make a mistake. You chose to grow up, and there is nothing wrong with that.” 

“Are you sure?” 

“Yes, I am.” 

The car was already on the move and Anna locked eyes with Sue before they finally were separated by distance. She relaxed in the back of the car and played with her fingers nervously. “I’m starting to think that deciding to work with Liam was a bad idea.”
