Anna smiled before glancing around, ensuring no one was within earshot. “Mrs. Hale.”
“Wait, what? The secretary?”
“Yes, she knows something, Zac. The way she looked at me earlier—it was not just concern. It was like she wanted to warn me but could not.”
Zac frowned, processing this. “You think she will spill if we talk to her outside of work? That is if you’re right about this.”
“Exactly. Here, she’s probably too scared to say anything. But if we can find out where she lives and catch her somewhere private, we might be able to get her to open up.” Anna spoke with determination.
She had a feeling that she was right about this one, that this could be their chance to get out of the dark and have some clue about what was really going on.
